Arent Fox Forum Featuring US Interior Secretary Salazar and US Sen. Lisa Murkowski Educates Live and TV Audiences on Energy Policy Issues
On June 5, 2012, Arent Fox and The George Washington University co-sponsored an Energy Policy Forum featuring keynote addresses from US Department of the Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and US Senator Lisa Murkowski on the outlook of U.S. energy policy.
Held in the in the Continental Ballroom on the third floor of the Marvin Center at The George Washington University’s Foggy Bottom campus, the Forum also consisted of a panel discussion on the subject of “Energy Tax Incentives: What Does the Future Hold?” by panelists including Mayo A. Shattuck, III, Executive Chairman of Exelon; Jason Grumet, Founder and President of the Bipartisan Policy Center; and Richard J. Pierce, Jr., Lyle T. Alverson Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School.
The speeches and panel discussion were followed by informative Q&A sessions, where audience members asked Secretary Salazar, Senator Murkowski, and the panelists a variety of questions regarding many different aspects of energy.
Arent Fox Senior Policy Advisors and former US Senators Byron Dorgan and Robert Bennett were instrumental in organizing the Forum and each provided a welcome to the event, while senior Government Relations Advisor and former US Congressman Philip English moderated the panel discussion. This event was rebroadcast on C-SPAN and widely reported in the media, including articles by Law360, Bloomberg, The Hill, POLITICO, MSNBC.com, The New York Times “Green Blog”, SNL, and the Anchorage Daily News.
