“The rules for companies exporting products or technology are constantly changing, and the costs of non-compliance have skyrocketed,” states Matthew Nolan, chair of Arent Fox’s international trade practice. “Government investigations and heavy fines are now common, so exporters cannot afford to postpone implementing proper controls and procedures. At the same time, compliance personnel must do more with smaller budgets. Our export procedures template provides a robust yet affordable alternative to assist companies in establishing internal controls and procedures to navigate the complex regulatory environment and mitigate risk. Based on our collective years of experience in designing these types of programs, we have worked with Thomson Reuters to develop a comprehensive, scalable template for small and large companies alike. Whether you are starting from scratch or using it to benchmark and supplement your current procedures, I believe you will find this product a valuable tool in developing your own export compliance program.”
The attorneys in Arent Fox’s export controls and economic sanctions practice group are experienced in assisting companies to customize and implement trade controls compliance programs based on the organization’s risk profile, as well as auditing and enhancing existing internal controls.
