Arent Fox partner Jule Rousseau was a speaker on the panel “Consumer Disclosure Option: Will this be the Year that Life Settlements Become Widely Known in the U.S.?” at The International Life Settlements Conference in London. Seven states now impose varying rules requiring carriers to let consumers know about Life Settlements. Now that the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) consumer-disclosure option has been adopted, U.S. lawmakers are poised to pass legislation letting people know that they can sell their policies. The panel debated this and other legislative activity, including whether SEC regulation is on the horizon.
