Arent Fox partner Richard Newman will speak at the Law Seminars International Distressed Real Estate Workshop on March 18 in Washington,  DC. Richard will discuss issues such as incomplete projects, mixed-use projects and public-private partnerships. He, along with another panelist, will also address additional risks for the lender; working with local governments to preserve development rights and public financial assistance under development agreements; allowing such rights to transfer; vesting rights in land use; and project approvals. 

The Distressed Real Estate Workshop will analyze today’s commercial real estate economic cycle, the economic and valuation difficulties involved, the legal issues and practical consequences involved in lenders trying to preserve and exercise various rights and remedies, and in debtors seeking to avoid and defend against such actions.
