Update on Issues Facing Companies Triggered by CPSIA

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is on the move. With the first full slate of five Commissioners since 1986, a new budget and an increase in personnel, the CPSC is implementing the Consumer Product Safety Act of 2008 (CPSIA), developing a long-term strategic plan for import surveillance, and issuing penalties against violative companies. Arent Fox's Georgia Ravitz, James Ravitz, Scott Cohn, and Amy Colvin will be conducting a webinar to discuss this new commission and take your questions about its recent activities and key regulatory issues for companies to consider in the upcoming months.

    Topic of this webinar include:

    • Recent Commission meeting discussing status of substantial hazard listing for certain products
    • Upcoming key CPSIA deadlines, including for General Conformity Certificates
      • Including affected items such as children's toys, and child care articles containing phthalates, sleepwear, certain pharmaceuticals, and apparel
    • Recent penalties issued against companies
    • Plans for coordination with Customs and Border Protection
