Aaron Jacoby Quoted in Automotive News on 2016 Regulatory and Legislative Changes

Arent Fox Partner and Automotive Practice Group Leader Aaron Jacoby was quoted in a recent Automotive News article, “Automotive Legislation and Regulation to Watch in 2016.” The article discusses the numerous regulatory and legislative changes for 2016. Aaron commented on California's proposed rules for self-driving vehicles, which would require a steering wheel and human driver to be present in the vehicle at all times should the technology fail or another emergency render it necessary. Aaron reflected that these requirements may stunt the ability of innovators to test their theories and develop products. The article also mentions the regulatory response to Volkswagen emission cheating scandal, and Aaron notes, "Because of no one catching VW and its scam, I know that various state and federal agencies are now under pressure."
