Arent Fox’s Phil English Published in POLITICO – “The Next Health Care Frontier”
Former US Representative Phil English, who currently co-chairs Arent Fox’s Government Relations practice, was published in the April 2nd edition of POLITICO. In his article, Rep. English analyzes the proposed Healthcare Truth and Transparency Act of 2011 (HR 451), which is currently working its way through Congress.
The bill proposed by Rep. John Sullivan, R-Okla., and Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Pa., is designed to “guarantee patients’ critical information regarding the education and training of their health care provider” and “complement the existing patchwork of state regulation by guaranteeing clear and consistent information about professional credentials for all health care providers.”
Rep. English writes in his article titled “The Next Health Care Frontier”:
Many states have already moved to protect the free flow of accurate information about health care services to patients and family decision makers, including John’s state of Oklahoma and my own state of Pennsylvania. The Sullivan legislation is one sensible initiative which, coupled with other market reforms, Medicare choice programs and expanded access to medical service accounts, can help tap the vitality of modern health care itself to improve outcomes. The Sullivan proposal avoids the divisive questions about scope of practice that trouble some areas of organized medicine.
