The article, “Financing Energy Infrastructure in the US,” explores the question of how the United States will fund sustainable, renewable energy sources and infrastructure in the future.

“Investments in US energy infrastructure dropped significantly during the worldwide recession. The WilderHill New Energy Global Innovation Index reported on 6 January 2011 that the performance of 100 worldwide clean energy stocks it monitors dropped 14.6 percent in 2010, and US clean energy stocks on the whole underperformed last year. Little progress was made in the last three years on the US’s tremendous infrastructure needs, in part because of investors’ lack of appetite for long-term investments required for infrastructure projects,” write Keith and Dan. “Assuming the economic recovery continues, how will energy infrastructure projects be financed in the US?”
