Politico Quotes Arent Fox Partner Craig Engle on Lois Lerner and the IRS Scandal
Arent Fox Political Law partner Craig Engle was quoted by Politico in an article focusing on former Internal Revenue Service (IRS) director Lois Lerner, after she broke her silence following last year’s controversy over that federal agency targeting tea party supporters and other conservative activists.
The article highlighted a comment by Mr. Engle — who was an executive assistant to a FEC Commissioner and has had extensive experience with Ms. Lerner — that “Lois’ ideology is against money in politics, is ‘anti-contribution’; that’s her bias. Her ideology inhibited fair administration of the law.” Others interviewed agreed with Mr. Engle’s assessment, and Congress and the Justice Department are continuing to investigate the matter.
