Arent Fox Adds Two Construction Law Experts In New York Office
NEW YORK—July 6, 2005— Arent Fox is pleased to announce the additions of Aaron N. Abraham and David J. Pfeffer as Partners in the firm's construction and litigation practice. Both were previously at Barry B. LePatner and Associates, LLP.
Abraham, 35, brings a wide-range of experience in the construction industry, having counseled developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and corporate and institutional owners. He concentrates his practice on resolving and litigating complex construction and design-related disputes before state and federal courts and alternative dispute resolution forums, as well as drafting and negotiating the full range of construction agreements for his clients.
Abraham has litigated claims related to design errors and omissions, structural failures and collapse, mold and water infiltration, insurance coverage disputes, surety bond claims, lien claims, limitation of liability issues, and delay, acceleration and consequential damages claims.
An active member of the New York County Lawyer's Association, Abraham is a lecturer for Lorman Education Services on a variety of construction and real estate development topics. Prior to entering private practice, he was an Assistant District Attorney in Queens County, New York. He holds a J.D. from Temple University School of Law and a B.S. from New York University.
Pfeffer, 35, has an extensive background serving the construction industry in the private, public, and non-profit sectors, and representing clients in matters ranging from project planning and contract preparation to dispute resolution. His clients have included a variety of corporations, owners, contractors, and design professionals.
Pfeffer has experience litigating matters in state and federal courts throughout the country in disputes surrounding design errors, mold and water infiltration claims, surety bond claims, insurance coverage disputes, lien and trust fund issues, bid protests and bid rigging, lease and ownership disputes, copyright claims, and general contract matters. He also maintains an active practice in contract law and commercial litigation.
Pfeffer is a continuing education faculty member of Pratt University and Lorman Education Services. He has published numerous articles on contract and construction law, co-authoring the legal sections of the Interior Design Handbook (McGraw Hill, 2002) and contributing to The New York Times, The Cooperator, and Residential Architect magazine. He received a J.D. from Hofstra University and a B.S. in legal studies at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice at the City University of New York.
