Arent Fox Completes Arena Naming Rights Deal for Charlotte Bobcats w/ Time Warner Cable & Related Media Rights Agreement Between Bobcats & Fox Sports

    April 15, 2008

Arent Fox’s Richard Brand and Steven Cohen represented the Charlotte Bobcats in connection with the recently completed arena naming rights and team sponsorship transaction with Time Warner Cable pursuant to which the current home of the NBA franchise – previously known as the Charlotte Bobcats Arena – has been renamed the Time Warner Cable Arena. Rich and Steve also represented the Bobcats in connection with a related media rights agreement with Fox Sports pursuant to which telecasts of Charlotte Bobcats games will move to Atlanta-based regional network Fox Sports Net South, which will make the games accessible to a greater number of viewers in North Carolina.

Arent Fox's David Gryce and Stephen Candelmo assisted on the transactions.

Rich and Steve previously represented Brooklyn Arena, LLC and the NJ Nets on the Barclays Center naming rights transaction, the largest arena naming rights and team sponsorship transaction in the history of sports and entertainment.

The transactions were announced April 8 at a press conference hosted by Time Warner Cable, Fox Sports and Charlotte Bobcats officials.
