Arent Fox Expands Litigation Practice in Los Angeles with Addition of Veteran Labor and Employment Trial Attorney, Carla Feldman

    April 25, 2011

LOS ANGELES – April 25, 2011 – Arent Fox LLP announced today that Carla Feldman, an accomplished trial attorney with more than 20 years of experience, has joined the firm as a partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office. Ms. Feldman’s practice encompasses a wide range of labor and employment matters for clients from a variety of industries including manufacturing, entertainment, gaming, health care, aviation, and automobiles.

“Carla brings a wealth of experience representing companies large and small in every aspect of employment law, and an impressive track record of success at trial, in arbitration, and with settlements to achieve favorable outcomes for her clients,” said Robert C. O'Brien, managing partner of Arent Fox’s Los Angeles office.  “California’s stringent employment laws create a potential minefield for employers. Carla’s creativity, dedication and skill within the courtroom and without are an invaluable for resource for businesses navigating through this thicket of regulation.”

Ms. Feldman focuses on single and multiple-plaintiff lawsuits and litigation avoidance strategies involving California wage and hour and federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) claims.  She is adept at defeating class certification in class and collective actions and is a master at persuading plaintiffs to dismiss or abandon their claims prior to trial, allowing for the efficient resolution of many threatened and pending cases.

In taking more than 100 cases to jury trial, Ms. Feldman is a seasoned litigator winning suits claiming wrongful termination, race and age discrimination, retaliation, violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act, workplace violence, theft of trade secrets and more.  In addition, she counsels employers and labor management in collective bargaining, and represents them in grievance proceedings as well as the defense of administrative charges.  She also negotiates employment contracts and severance agreements for senior executives.

“Arent Fox’s Los Angeles office houses the leaders of two national practice areas –automotive and white collar and investigations – and it has great litigators in many other practice areas.  I believe my skills will fit well with my new colleagues in this fast-growing, dynamic firm,” said Ms. Feldman.

Formerly a partner at Morgan Lewis, the Daily Journal has recognized Feldman as a Top Women Litigator six times. She also has been named a Southern California Super Lawyer for the past seven years.

She obtained her JD from the University of San Diego Law School, and has a bachelor’s degree from University of California at San Diego.
