LOS ANGELES — JUNE 23, 2008 — Arent Fox Los Angeles today hosted a delegation of senior United Nations diplomats in cooperation with the The Humpty Dumpty Institute’s (HDI) “UN Across America Program,” which is designed to show ambassadors and other diplomats parts of America they might not normally have the opportunity to visit during their posting in the US.

Today's luncheon at Arent Fox highlighted the economic and cultural vibrancy of Los Angeles and gave the envoys a chance to forge ties with the city's legal and business communities.

"It is a great honor to host such a distinguished gathering of diplomats and statesmen from around the globe," said Robert C. O'Brien, the partner-in-charge of Arent Fox's Los Angeles office. "Arent Fox is proud HDI chose our firm to help represent the great city of Los Angeles."

"We also appreciate the opportunity to talk with the ambassadors about Arent Fox's commitment to international pro bono service, such as the Public-Private Partnership for Justice Reform in Afghanistan — an initiative of which I am proud to serve as co-chair — and my Arent Fox colleague Pierre-Richard Prosper's ongoing work as member of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, the world’s oldest human rights treaty body," said O'Brien.

Constance Milstein, chairman of HDI, said, “We are very grateful to Arent Fox for hosting this luncheon and giving our visitors from the UN a chance to learn more about Los Angeles and the crucial role the city plays in our nation's legal, financial and cultural affairs."

In addition to its visit to Arent Fox, the UN delegation's activities while in Los Angeles include a roundtable with students and faculty of the University of Southern California, a lunch and program at California State University under the auspices of the California African American Political and Economic Institute, a meeting with the Motion Picture Association of America on protection of intellectual property, and touring the cultural sites of the city.
