Arent Fox Los Angeles Partner Robert C. O'Brien Named to “Irish Legal 100” by Irish America Magazine and Irish Voice Newspaper

    NOVEMBER 18, 2009Arent Fox LLP is pleased to announce that Robert C. O'Brien, the partner-in-charge of the firm's Los Angeles office, has been named to the “Irish Legal 100” by Irish America magazine and the Irish Voice newspaper.

    Mr. O'Brien and his fellow honorees, including the Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts, US District Court Judge Stephen Larson and leading California trial lawyer, Wylie A. Aitken, were recognized at a reception and awards ceremony held November 11 at the Residence of the Irish Ambassador in Washington, DC. “I am truly humbled to be named to the Irish Legal 100 with such accomplished lawyers and judges, especially the Chief Justice of the United States,” said Mr. O'Brien. Mr. O'Brien thanked Ambassador Michael Collins, who presented the awards, noting that “it was very generous of the Ambassador and Mrs. Collins to have hosted this group of lawyers at the Irish Embassy, where so many of us feel at home.”

    In addition to serving as partner-in-charge of Arent Fox's Los Angeles office, which under his leadership has tripled in size over the past three years, and being a highly successful litigator, Mr. O'Brien currently serves as co-chair of the US Department of State’s Public-Private Partnership for Justice Reform in Afghanistan. In July 2008, Robert was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve a three-year term on the Cultural Property Advisory Committee, which advises the US Government on the Convention on Cultural Property Implementation Act.

    Mr. O'Brien's practice focuses on commercial litigation and domestic and international arbitration, including intellectual property, entertainment, complex business disputes and election law matters for Fortune 500 corporations, privately held companies and individuals. He also has significant private practice and government experience in international legal affairs.

    Earlier this month, Mr. O'Brien was named the Outstanding Lawyer of 2009 by the Los Angeles Chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society.
