Partner Marylee Jenkins Takes Office as Chair of Intellectual Property Law Section

WASHINGTON, DC and NEW YORK CITY – AUGUST 18, 2010 – Arent Fox LLP is pleased to announce that two of its partners have assumed senior leadership positions with the American Bar Association.

Linda Baumann, a partner in Arent Fox’s health care practice in Washington, DC, assumed office as Chair of the ABA’s large and influential Health Law Section, and Marylee Jenkins, a partner in Arent Fox’s intellectual property practice who resides in the firm’s New York City office, took office as Chair of the ABA’s Intellectual Property Section, the largest intellectual property organization in the world and the ABA’s oldest substantive Section.

Both attorneys had been serving as Chair-Elect of their sections prior to being handed the official chair’s gavel by outgoing ABA President Carolyn Lamm during the 2010 ABA Annual Meeting held last week in San Francisco.

As Chair of the Health Law Section, Linda will develop and guide the Section’s activities internally, with other ABA entities, and with the government and other outside organizations. This year will be particularly critical for the Health Law Section in light of the recent passage of the health care reform legislation and its ongoing implementation.

Marylee will develop and guide the Intellectual Property Section’s activities internally and work with other ABA groups, outside organizations, associations, and government entities both nationally and internationally. As Chair, she intends to continue and expand the Section’s role as an influential thought leader on a variety of legal, legislative and administrative matters, including patent reform, USPTO strategic plan initiatives, and intellectual property protection and enforcement.
