Arent Fox's Robert C. O'Brien Named “Outstanding Lawyer of 2009” by J. Reuben Clark Law Society's LA Chapter

    NOVEMBER 13, 2009Arent Fox LLP is pleased to announce that Robert C. O'Brien, the partner-in-charge of the firm's Los Angeles office has been named the recipient of the “2009 Outstanding Lawyer Award” by the J. Reuben Clark Law Society (Los Angeles Chapter), a professional organization dedicated to the long-standing traditions of the legal profession, including public service and loyalty to the rule of law.  

    Robert was honored at the Los Angeles Chapter's Annual Dinner, held Saturday, November 7, at The Hilton Hotel in Glendale, California. While presenting Robert the award, Stephen L. Bradford, chairman of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society's Los Angeles chapter, described Robert as a “devoted husband and father, outstanding legal practitioner, kind and effective manager of lawyers and staff, and sought-after international diplomat.” Robert currently serves as co-chair of the US State Department's Public-Private Partnership for Justice Reform in Afghanistan.

    “As such, Robert truly exemplifies the mission statement of our J. Reuben Clark Law Society. We strive through public service and professional excellence to promote fairness and virtue founded upon the rule of law,” said Mr. Bradford, partner at the law firm Musick, Peeler & Garrett LLP.

    Nationally syndicated broadcast journalist, best-selling author and law professor Hugh Hewitt was the evening's featured speaker. Arent Fox partner Lowell Brown presented Professor Hewitt with the Los Angeles Chapter’s “2009 Distinguished Service Award.”
