WASHINGTON, DC — AUGUST 31, 2010 — Arent Fox LLP today announced that Kenneth Godlewski has joined the firm as a partner in its Washington, DC, office. Mr. Godlewski practices in the areas of patent litigation and IP counseling. He has acted as first chair in a wide variety of patent litigation matters throughout the United States, including trials and Markman hearings. Mr. Godlewski has extensive experience litigating patents in various industries, including financial services, gaming, medical devices, sporting goods and consumer products, and aerospace technology.

Prior to joining Arent Fox, Mr. Godlewski was a trial lawyer in the Washington, DC patent litigation team at an international law firm.

Mr. Godlewski earned his JD degree at Ohio State University. Following his graduation from law school, he served as the first law clerk for former chief Judge Paul Matia focusing on patent matters when Judge Matia initially took the bench on the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Following his clerkship with Judge Matia, Mr. Godlewski joined a patent boutique where he served as counsel and lead patent litigation trial attorney.

Mr. Godlewski then joined an international law firm based in the Southeast where, first as counsel and then partner, he litigated patent matters throughout the United States out of the Washington, DC office and engaged in complex patent reexaminations before the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Mr. Godlewski is a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia and an inactive member of the Bar of the State of Ohio. He earned his undergraduate degree in geology from the College of Wooster in Ohio and was a science teacher in his Ohio hometown before going to law school.
