WASHINGTON—NOVEMBER 15, 2005— Arent Fox is pleased to announce that Ralph Mittelberger has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property and Litigation Groups as a partner in the Washington, D.C., office.

Mittelberger has successfully represented foreign and domestic clients in suits involving patent, trademark and copyright infringement, unfair competition, and trade secret misappropriation, as well as in cases involving antitrust and licensing issues. At Arent Fox, Mittelberger will continue to expand his intellectual property expertise while growing his international litigation practice.

Prior to entering private practice in 1989, Mittelberger was Supervisory Attorney and Chief of the Patent Branch of the Office of Unfair Import Investigations at the U.S. International Trade Commission and, before that, a trial attorney with the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. His articles about the U.S. International Trade Commission, litigation and patent issues have been published in the U.S., Taiwan, Japan and China. He also has given lectures about these and other topics worldwide. Mittelberger has served as an officer and as a committee chair in various national bar associations.

Mittelberger has a M.S. in civil engineering and two B.S. degrees in civil engineering and economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his J.D. from Georgetown University. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark office.
