Andy focuses on all aspects of financial restructuring and bankruptcy related matters. In addition, Andy concentrates on commercial litigation and is experienced in representing clients in both state and federal court. 

Drawing on the expertise of ArentFox Schiff lawyers across multiple practices, Andy serves as outside general counsel to Asian clients in all areas and across numerous industries on a range of issues including general corporate matters, real estate, and intellectual property. 

In 2012, Andy was named a “Rising Star” in the Southern California edition of Super Lawyers.

Client Work

Andy’s recent representations include:

  • Wild Game Ng, LLC d/b/a The Siena Hotel Spa & Casino, One South Lake Street, LLC and Hi-Five Enterprises, LLC. Represented debtors-in-possession, a high-end hotel, spa, and casino in Reno, Nevada, in a complex Chapter 11 case involving gaming compliance, tax and employment issues; negotiated the successful sale of the hotel and casino;
  • S-King Estates, LLC. Represented debtor-in-possession, a “ski down” resort in Salt Lake City, Utah, in a heavily contested plan confirmation process; successfully confirmed plan of reorganization;
  • Victor Ortiz. Represented a professional boxer; obtained declaratory judgment and injunctive relief rejecting and terminating the personal services contract for the client; and
  • Represents cannabis companies, restaurant groups, real estate companies, funds and investment groups, entrepreneurs, hotel owners, and lenders in an outside general counsel role.

    Previous Work

    After law school, Andy served as a law clerk to Judge Victoria Kaufman of the US Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.

    Professional Activities

    Andy was the Ninth Circuit notes editor for the American Bar Association. Andy is a member of the Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum, the International Association of Korean Lawyers, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles.

    Publications, Presentations & Recognitions

    Andy was featured and interviewed by the Korea Times Los Angeles in the November 30, 2010 publication to discuss business Chapter 11s, particularly in the Korean American business community.

    Life Beyond the Law

    Andy enjoys golfing and traveling. He is conversational in Korean.
