He has extensive experience in commercial leasing transactions (representing both landlords and tenants); commercial real estate and corporate financing transactions (representing borrowers, lenders and credit enhancers); commercial real estate and corporate acquisitions (representing both purchasers and sellers); commercial real estate development work (representing owners in all aspects of development, including entity formation, preparation of easement documents and the negotiation of construction financing); and condominium transactions (representing developers in connection with the creation and maintenance of condominiums). Gerry serves as chair of the firm’s Professional Conduct Committee. Client Work Gerry’s client work is local, national, and international in scope. Recently, with regard to leases, Gerry has generally worked on office spaces in the greater DC area. On the lender’s side of finance matters, he has represented Marriott International on mezzanine financing to hotel owners and others. He has also represented a leading mortgage company and investment group in mezzanine financing, and has counseled Fannie Mae on credit enhancement and in buying large portfolios of loans. On the borrower side, Gerry has represented numerous clients on a variety of loans, including construction, permanent, bridge and securitized financing loans. Additionally, Gerry’s representative projects in commercial real estate development include representation of the developer of the office-hotel-residential-mall development known as Tysons II in McLean, Virginia and the developer of The Washington Flower Center Condominium in Washington, DC, an award-winning commercial condominium project housing all of Washington DC’s major flower wholesalers.
