Practice Areas

A partner of the firm since 1956, Bob Hirsch has developed a practice focusing on commercial law, securities law, and related litigation. In over 60 years with Arent Fox, he has gained the legal expertise that enables him to offer clients a strong background in corporate, real estate, securities, financing, mergers and acquisitions, takeovers, and litigation matters.

Professional Activities

Bob has been active in a diverse array of professional, civic, and educational organizations. Currently, he is chairman emeritus of the board of advisors to the Dean of The George Washington University Law School and has served as vice chairman of The George Washington University’s Centuries Campaign. In the community, he has served on the boards of numerous charitable organizations.

Life Beyond the Law

Bob is married, has five children and eight grandchildren. Bob’s outside interests include opera, classical music and reading. He enjoys his grandchildren’s growth, life passages, scholastic achievements, and instrumental music, singing, acting, chess and athletic activities. Bob is also significantly involved in the Washington Jewish community. He has served as advisor to the United Jewish Endowment Fund; Trustee to the Greater Washington Jewish Community Foundation; Director of The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, the United Cerebral Palsy of Washington, and the Washington School of Psychiatry; Secretary to the Greater Washington Jewish Community Foundation; and he is a past president of Temple Emanuel. He is general counsel to the District of Columbia Jewish Community Center and has served as general counsel to The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.
