He represents both commercial and nonprofit clients in the acquisition, financing, restructuring, leasing and sale of real estate assets, with experience on single asset and large portfolio transactions. Jim serves on the firm's DC employment committee which oversees the summer associate program in the DC office. Previous Work Prior to joining Arent Fox, Jim worked as a structural engineer at URS Corporation in Washington, DC. During his time there, he worked on several government projects, including the Standard Embassy Design for the US Department of State, the renovation of the National Archives, and the design of a large aircraft hangar and maintenance facility for the Tennessee Air National Guard. Publications, Presentations, and Recognitions During law school, Jim served as a senior articles editor for the Stanford Law & Policy Review. As a structural engineer, he co-wrote an article with James A. Shipe and Charlie J. Carter, P.E., S.E. about the defensive design of building structures that was based on Jim’s work at Penn State for his senior/honors thesis titled “Defensive Design,”published in Modern Steel Construction, Vol. 43, No. 11, p. 25-31, November 2003. Life Beyond the Law Jim grew up outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is an avid Penguins, Steelers, and Penn State football fan. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, softball and the guitar. He lives in Washington, DC with his wife, Suzanne, and sons, Brady and Owen.
