She has experience litigating a broad range of complex commercial matters, including matters arising in contract, intellectual property, real estate, environmental, construction, and other business and commercial dispute contexts. Karen has handled matters in numerous state and federal trial courts throughout the country and in arbitration and mediation. Karen has handled matters for a broad range of clients, including individuals, trade associations, and domestic and multinational businesses. Previous Work Before joining Arent Fox, Karen served as a law clerk for the Honorable James P. Jones, Chief Judge of the US District Court for the Western District of Virginia. While in law school, Karen served as a judicial extern for Judge Ann Aiken, US District Court for the District of Oregon and as a law clerk for the Special Litigation Unit of the Oregon Department of Justice. While in law school, Karen was an executive editor of Oregon Law Review. She also served as a fellow for the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics and was director of Oregon Law Students’ Public Interest Fund. Professional Activities Karen serves on the firm’s Pro Bono Committee and Associates Committee, and as the firm’s Intake Volunteer Coordinator for the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia. She also is a member of the Selection Committee of the University of Oregon Loan Repayment Assistance Program.
