Katie is an associate in the Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring group at Arent Fox. Katie focuses on bankruptcy litigation, creditors’ rights and restructuring.
Official Committees of Unsecured Creditors
A large portion of Katie’s practice includes the representation of Official Committees of Unsecured Creditors in Chapter 11 cases. Recent representations include the following:
- The Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Contessa Premium Foods, Inc., in the Central District of California;
- The Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Building Materials Holding Corporation, et al., in the District of Delaware;
- The Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Fortunoff Holdings, LLC, et al., in the Southern District of New York;
- The Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of DHP Holdings, et al., in the District of Delaware;
- The Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Everything But Water, et al., in the District of Delaware;
- The Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Right Start and Babystyle, in the Central District of California; and
- The Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of Crew Creative, LLC, in the Central District of California.
Creditors and Trustees
Katie also represents a variety of clients in the enforcement of a broad spectrum of creditors’ rights. Among these creditors are secured lenders, commercial landlords, trustees, bondholders, shareholders, national and regional banks and other financial institutions, condominium associations, general contractors, subcontractors, developers and builders. Presently, Katie represents several commercial landlords in the Circuit City bankruptcy case pending in the Eastern District of Virginia. Katie has also defended directors and officers’ insurance carriers against claims of liquidating trustees in bankruptcy proceedings.
Debtors in Possession
Katie also has experience representing debtors in Chapter 7, Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 proceedings and has counseled debtors through the processes of rehabilitating their businesses or affairs, liquidating assets in an orderly fashion, and conducting comprehensive asset sales that maximize recoveries for creditors while protecting the debtor’s rights. Presently, Katie represents a developer and builder of residential properties who filed Chapter 11 in the District of Maryland.
