Mike is particularly experienced in representing providers of long-term care. He serves as principal outside counsel to several of the nation’s largest long-term care companies whose operations include skilled nursing, assisted living, continuing care retirement and independent living facilities. Mike also serves as counsel to ancillary services providers (physicians, therapists, home health agencies, pharmacies, diagnostic clinics, durable medical equipment suppliers and the like), providers of retirement housing and providers of hospice care. He also serves as general counsel for a national long-term care professional association.
Mike’s practice includes counseling on a variety of day-to-day long-term care related business issues including mergers and acquisitions, the conducting of complex regulatory and corporate due diligence, fraud and abuse compliance, survey, certification and licensure matters, construction and financing of long-term care and senior living facilities, internal corporate governance/structure issues, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, employment disputes, resource contracting, and organization finances, as well as the representation of long-term care providers before administrative agencies and the courts.
Mike’s client base also includes both academic and community based general and specialty hospitals, individual and group health care practitioners, clinical laboratories, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, government health care contractors, and professional and trade associations.
