She focuses her practice on patent prosecution of computer hardware and software, telecommunications, medical devices, business methods, and optical and electromagnetic devices and technologies. Client Work Shu’s practice is focused on preparing and prosecuting US and foreign patent applications, and counseling clients on patent prosecution strategies and related patent portfolio management. Previous Work Prior to joining Arent Fox, Shu was a technology specialist at a large international IP boutique firm in Boston, Massachusetts. Before working in the patent field, Shu served as a research assistant at Tufts University Millimeter and Submillimeter Waves Laboratory, working on free-space broad band dielectric measurement of solid materials. Shu also conducted research in the areas of digital signal processing, probabilistic and statistical modeling and statistical communications theory, and advanced mixed signal simulation algorithms at Tufts University. Additionally, Shu worked as a teaching assistant at Tufts University lecturing on microprocessor programming language and digital logic design. Professional Activities Shu has been an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) since 2003. Publications, Presentations and Recognitions Shu has been published in national and international peer-review electromagnetic theory and electrical engineering journals and proceedings. Various publications include: “Fabry-Perot Open Resonator Technique for Dielectric Permittivity and Loss Tangent Measurements of Yttrium Iron Garnet,” with M. N. Afsar, IEEE Transactions on Megnetics, 2008. “Millimeter Wave Transmittance Measurements on Ferrites near Ferromagnetic Resonance,” with K. A. Korolev and M. N. Afsar, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2008. “Dielectric Parameter Measurements of Silicon Carbide at Millimeter Wavelengths,” with M. N. Afsar and D.
