Led by partner Craig Engle, the campaign finance team is comprised of attorneys and political professionals with extensive backgrounds in federal, state, and local campaigns.
Arent Fox has developed this unique one-stop-shop campaign finance service and handled over $30 million in deposits, disbursements, bank reconciliations, accounting, and reporting during the 2011-12 election cycle. In our experience, political committees want to integrate and economize as many of their campaign finance services as possible. Our in-house services help ensure there is no duplication between the legal work and the accounting, banking, data processing, and reporting work other firms do.
Our campaign finance team performs a full array of campaign finance and banking services, including processing deposits and disbursements, maintaining databases, corresponding with donors, filing all FEC and IRS reports, and reviewing tax returns. We provide these services to a number of congressional and presidential campaign committees, political action committees, Super PACs, 527 organizations, 501(c)(4) organizations, and other political entities.
In addition to the campaign finance and banking services, Arent Fox can assist in maintaining databases and corresponding with donors on behalf of the client. This includes sending fundraising solicitations, creating and updating supporter contact lists, and approving language for all fundraising and advertising literature to ensure that it complies with state and local laws. These services are managed by David Satterfield, our Campaign Finance Manager. David can also serve as the FEC Treasurer of political committees registered with the Federal Election Commission. This is another unique practice by our firm – we relieve political committees from finding a Treasurer, which, given the liabilities, is often a difficult position to fill.
