Labor Management Relations
In the area of traditional labor relations, we represent employers during union organizing campaigns beginning before an union files a petition to be certified as a collective bargaining representative through an election conducted by the National Labor Relations Board, postelection challenges and objections. We also handle unfair labor practice cases before the National Labor Relations Board and injunction proceedings involving strikes and picketing in state and federal courts. Our record of representation of employers in union organizing organizational campaigns includes clients in numerous industries involving many different unions. At companies where employees are represented by unions in collective bargaining, we also have substantial experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements. We have been involved in challenging negotiations over complex issues such as relocations of bargaining unit work, subcontracting, wage and benefit freezes and concessions, health care cost containment, and layoffs. When disputes develop under labor contracts, we represent employers in arbitrations and breach of contract cases. We also act as advisors on important labor issues that arise in corporate transactions, such as plant shutdowns and relocations, sales, mergers, reorganizations, and reductions in force. |
