George Oram has been in the practice of patent law since 1975. He is currently the co-manager of the Regulatory Department and serves on the Financial Management Committee. Client WorkGeorge represents domestic and international clients in the areas of consumer electronic and electro-mechanical devices, medical devices, automotive parts, industrial machinery, and methods of making and using in the chemical arts. His primary responsibilities include patent prosecution and rendering of opinions concerning patent validity and infringement. He regularly counsels clients concerning patenting strategy, product design, scope of competitor’s patent positions, and patent portfolio management. George also supervises the client work performed by chemical, biotech, mechanical, and electrical associate attorneys, patent agents, and staff. Previous WorkAfter earning a Bachelor of Arts in chemical engineering, George worked as a plant maintenance engineer for a major industrial chemicals company. While earning his law degree, he was admitted to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office. Professional ActivitiesGeorge is an active member of the American Bar Association, as well as Fédération Internationale des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle. Life Beyond the LawGeorge, in his prior life before the law, was a chemical plant maintenance engineer. He moved to Washington solely to attend law school, met and married a native Washingtonian, Lucia, and has been in the District of Columbia ever since (33 years). He enjoys walking, martial arts, reading, computer gaming, and sleight of hand magic.
