David served as a judicial clerk to judges Donald Eyre and Steven Hansen of the Fourth District Court for the State of Utah and later as deputy county counsel for Summit County, Utah. His duties for Summit County included advising the board of county commissioners and the Snyderville Planning Commission — bodies governing land use development near Park City and Deer Valley ski resorts.

David is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, Los Angeles Chapter.

David was named a “Rising Star” by the Southern California edition of Super Lawyers magazine for 2005.

David was a BYU Baseball Academic All-American, starting at first base for two years. His wife, Lonna Stacey Bayles, was a four-year All-American and National Champion swimmer for USC. David and Lonna enjoy attending USC football games and training together for triathlons. David also enjoys coaching their two sons in school, scouts, and sports. The family plays golf and attends the theater together.
