Robert Falb is a consulting attorney in the Real Estate Group who focuses on structuring complex real estate and commercial transactions in order to achieve optimum economic, tax and personal financial results for entrepreneurs. Robert also counsels for nonprofits, cooperatives, insurance companies, and foreign corporations.

Client Work

Robert’s representative projects include planning and negotiating agreements for the development of the National Children’s Museum (Washington, DC), The Harman Center for the Arts (pro bono; Washington, DC), Gallery Place (Washington, DC) and Gaylord’s at National Harbor (Prince George’s County, Maryland); conservation easement for The Plaza Hotel (New York); and the formation of a factory-built housing venture for the Gulf Coast region.

Previous Work

Over the past 35 years, Robert’s practice has focused on strategic planning, financial, legal, and tax analysis on behalf of commercial and residential real estate developers, owners, and operators. That experience includes the development of strategic plans, the documentation and implementation of debt and equity, financing of real estate through private placement of equity securities, conventional debt financing, securitized debt financing, tax-exempt and taxable bond offerings and refundings, government-guaranteed and insured loan programs, and privately guaranteed and insured loan programs. He has participated in the formation of limited liability companies, partnerships, and joint ventures between developers and institutional investors in connection with the development and ownership of large-scale, mixed-use projects and with the investment in portfolios of office and retail properties.

In the corporate arena, Robert has represented clients in the formation of partnerships and joint ventures for the creation, development and exploitation of various technologies, including electronic commerce, new materials, computer hardware and software. He has also represented clients in connection with business acquisitions, mergers and dispositions in the fields of banking, agriculture, transportation, gaming, and entertainment.

Robert is a member of the American Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar Association.

Life Beyond the Law

Robert is vice chair and trustee of the Shakespeare Theatre Company and is director of the Erkiletian Construction Corporation.
