Sule Akyüz focuses her practice on international trade and business matters, with particular emphasis on cross-border trade, business, and government relations matters involving Turkey. Sule has a broad range of experience in matters related to customs, the Generalized System of Preferences, trade policy, and business and economic relations issues involving US companies expanding to Turkey and Turkish businesses participating in the US market.

Client Work

She currently advises clients on a broad range of transnational issues including private transactions, securities, government regulation of trade and investment as well as issues involving government relations, and represents clients before the United States Trade Representative.

Previous Work

Prior to joining Arent Fox, she worked for a nationally recognized law firm in international trade in Washington DC. She interned for United States Bankruptcy Judge for Maryland, Judge Nancy V. Alquist, for one year.

Before Sule came to the United States and became a member of the New York Bar, she practiced law in Turkey for more than a decade, both as a private practitioner and as in-house counsel for various companies and financial institutions. Her experience includes work as counsel to Takasbank Settlement and Custody Bank Inc, and Global Securities, a major securities broker in Turkey.

Sule is a frequent lecturer, moderator, and author on legal and regulatory matters. While living in Turkey, Sule gave numerous presentations and training sessions on legal and regulatory matters.
