Client Work

Arnie is a member of the American Bar Association, where he is a member of the Business Law Section and the Forum on Franchising.

Previous Work

Between 1990 and 2000, Arnie was based in Pittsburgh where he acted as vice president and general counsel of Sargent Electric Company and vice president and secretary of a related entity - TEGG Corporation (a franchisor). At TEGG Arnie successfully handled the strategic investments that brought Johnson Controls and Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company into TEGG as shareholders, a transaction which greatly increased TEGG’s positioning in the marketplace. In addition, Arnie had a major role in the growth of the TEGG franchise, which now spans the globe from the United States to the Pacific Rim. While at Sargent Electric, Arnie oversaw all legal matters including commercial agreements, litigation, and lobbying efforts. He led a team on behalf of Sargent Electric in a dispute against the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in prosecuting a multimillion dollar damages delay claim that ultimately prevailed in winning the right to sue the state of Texas over its defense of sovereign immunity before the Texas legislature.

Since 2000 Arnie has continued his business counseling and franchising work with both new and established companies. In a major restructuring project for Tupperware Brands, Arnie worked closely with the company’s business planning team to convert its business from a franchise system to a distribution model. As part of the transition, he helped to revamp the company’s entire business model and compensation system for its 300 distributors and 70,000 sales consultants.

Life Beyond the Law

Mr. Schwartzman is actively involved in many community and charitable pursuits. In July 2011, he was elected to St. Jude's ALSAC Leadership Council, a high-level group of distinguished supporters who serve as ambassadors for St. Jude in communities throughout the United States. Other charitable efforts, interests and engagements have included an honorary membership to the Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, chairmanship of Covenant Manor, Inc., and his role as founding trustee of the Ronald McDonald House in Dayton, OH.
