Jo-Ann represents all types of health care providers, including long-term care and post-acute care providers, hospitals, home health agencies, hospices, and other types of ancillary service providers such as durable medical equipment suppliers, pharmacies, and therapy companies. Jo-Ann is particularly experienced in representing her clients on a variety of matters involving complex multistate health care transactions, such as deal structuring in compliance with federal and state health care laws and regulations, conducting corporate and regulatory due diligence, and advising on licensure, certificate of need, and Medicare and Medicaid certification matters.

Jo-Ann’s practice also includes general regulatory and compliance counseling related to day-to-day health care business issues, such as fraud and abuse compliance, false claims counseling, federal and state privacy laws, internal corporate governance, health care contracting, and federal and state medical assistance reimbursement matters. Jo-Ann also has extensive experience in the development and implementation of corporate compliance programs.

Jo-Ann previously served as in-house counsel to a large New York-based healthcare system comprised of a general acute-care hospital, nursing homes, inpatient and home-based hospice providers, a home health agency, a mental and behavioral health facility, and numerous ambulatory care sites.

Jo-Ann is an active member of American Health Lawyers Association and has been a member of the New York State Bar Association.

Jo-Ann recently served as co-chair of the Health Law Section of the Privacy Initiative Task Force of the New York State Bar Association. Jo-Ann is a contributing author to Compliance Issues in Gastroenterology, and has authored numerous articles relating to health care compliance issues for long-term care industry publications.
