Before joining Arent Fox, Laura spent more than three years working as the assistant director of government affairs at the American Council on Education (ACE). During her time there she coordinated community response to pending tax proposals and revenue provisions before the House Ways and Means Committee and Senate Finance Committee. Additionally she worked with the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department on issues pertaining to international students, drafted issue papers, testimony and speeches, formulated ACE’s response for input on pending tax legislation, and represented ACE at various meetings and working groups of the larger non-profit community.

Prior to Laura’s time with ACE, she worked for seven years for US Representative Philip English who served on the Ways and Means Committee. As his legislative director, Laura was responsible for issues relating to the Ways and Means Committee, such as tax, health, and Social Security. Additionally, she handled education issues for the Congressman.
