Jennifer is a health care associate in the New York office. She concentrates on health care regulatory and transactional matters. Jennifer works with a wide range of providers and suppliers, including skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, hospitals, home health agencies, medical suppliers, and health care staffing agencies. She counsels clients on state licensure and certificate of need requirements, Medicare and Medicaid regulations, enrollment and reimbursement issues, federal and state fraud and abuse standards, health privacy and security, and corporate practice guidelines. She also assists clients with compliance audits and the development of corporate compliance programs. In addition, Jennifer helps manage corporate transactions in the health care industry on behalf of providers, including mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures involving both asset and stock transactions. She drafts documentation for corporate reorganizations, operation transfers, and other related transactions. Client WorkHer recent work includes:
Previous WorkJennifer previously worked as an associate in the health care and corporate departments of a New York law firm, where she assisted with hospital acquisitions and counseled clients on physician employment agreements. She also performed extensive research on legal issues related to Medicare, Medicaid, the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General's and the Office of Inspector General's Medicaid provider compliance programs, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Law, and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act. Jennifer held several internship positions, including during the summer of 2006 with The Honorable Leonard D. Wexler, United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York as well as with The Honorable Elizabeth H. Emerson, Suffolk County Supreme Court, 10th Judicial District. Jennifer was also an intern for the Supreme Court of the United States where she was the first intern to administer the docket of pending cases and also prepared “To-Be-Argued” briefs for circulation to Chambers. Professional ActivitiesJennifer is an active member of the New York State Bar Association, Health Law Committee. Publications, Presentations and RecognitionsWhile attending law school, Jennifer was senior articles editor for the William & Mary Environmental Law and Policy Review and authored “Conserving the United States' Coral Reefs: National Monument Designation to Afford Greater Protection for Coral Reefs in Four National Marine Sanctuaries,” which was published in 2008. In March 2011, Jennifer was awarded the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce’s Celebrate Long Island’s Young Professionals Recognition Award for her outstanding accomplishments in Long Island’s business community.
