Ed Dougherty helps bring innovative medical technologies to market.

He advises medical device, pharmaceutical, diagnostic, biologics, and biotech companies as they develop strategic reimbursement plans to secure appropriate coverage and value-based payment both for novel technologies and for mature health care products and services.  Ed assists manufacturers in identifying and overcoming hurdles to market access and consistent reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid and commercial health insurers.  This work includes payer interaction, coverage, coding, and payment. 

Ed has developed industry coalitions to address health care policy issues.  He works at the intersection of patient advocacy groups and industry to expand access, improve quality and reduce the cost of health care products and services.  He also advises companies headquartered outside the United States on strategies for successful entry into the US market.

Before joining Arent Fox, Ed worked as a senior vice president for a national advisory and advocacy firm. Ed previously directed prospective study design and strategic marketing activities for a Fortune 40 pharmaceutical services company. He led the strategic consulting group within the medical marketing division of a global contract research organization and coordinated outcomes research and reimbursement support activities for a major health care consulting firm.
