WASHINGTON—June 20, 2006— Arent Fox has announced its Diversity Scholarship recipients for 2006. Michele Gutrick from Howard University will be joining the Washington, D.C., office, and Tope Yusuf from Columbia University will be joining the New York office. Arent Fox’s Diversity Scholarship Program awards two first-year law students $15,000, plus a position in the firm’s summer associate program each year. The scholarship is part of a larger effort to increase the firm’s diversity and attract excellent lawyers from diverse backgrounds.

“The legal profession has an obligation to encourage men and women from all backgrounds to become lawyers,” said Chairman Marc Fleischaker. “In our law firm, we take this obligation seriously, but beyond that, we find that it adds greatly to our own professional experiences and improves the quality of the advice we give when our colleagues have different life experiences. We hope that this scholarship encourages highly qualified individuals to seek the professional and personal satisfaction that a legal career can produce.”

Arent Fox will begin accepting applications for the 2007 program beginning Dec. 1, 2006.
