Arent Fox’s Mark Joachim Profiled in Daily Bankruptcy Review’s “Mover of the Week” Feature

Arent Fox’s Mark B. Joachim, a partner in the firm’s bankruptcy and corporate practices who joined the firm earlier this year, has been profiled in the Dow Jones Daily Bankruptcy Review’s “Mover of the Week” feature.

In the article, Daily Bankruptcy Review writes:

Boom or bust, Mark Joachim’s legal practice revolves around debt.

That’s because the attorney, a new addition to Arent Fox LLP, knows how to help a company secure debt financing as well as how to work out that debt when the company runs into trouble.

“Bankruptcy is a cyclical business,” he said. “If you know enough about troubled companies and what happens when companies get into overleveraged situations … it dovetails nicely into working on debt transactions on the other side of the cycle.”

Joachim, who recently moved to Washington, DC, from New York with his wife and 14-month-old son, said he was looking for a firm where he could pursue these dual practices. He found that at Arent Fox, where he’ll be a partner in both the firm’s corporate and financial restructuring practices.

“They all play together and practice together like the client is not just the client of an individual partner but a client of the firm,” he said. “It’s just a cooperative, collegial environment.”

Joachim’s current work centers around private equity firms, hedge funds, and others who find value in buying or taking control of a troubled business.
