Grace Tse is an associate in the Labor and Employment practice group in the Los Angeles office of Arent Fox. Her practice focuses on employment litigation and class action defense. Client WorkGrace has defended employers against numerous putative wage-and-hour class actions, as well as claims of wrongful termination, sexual harassment, disability discrimination, and failure to pay employee benefits under ERISA. She has also defended employment-related claims of breach of contract and misappropriation of trade secrets. Grace served as counsel of record for a national grocery chain in a recent putative class action challenging the denial of unemployment insurance benefits to 4,500 striking employees, in which she assisted in successfully opposing class certification and obtaining judgment in favor of the grocery chain. In addition to her labor and employment work, Grace’s litigation experience includes copyright and trademark infringement, false advertising, securities fraud, and white collar defense. Previous WorkPrior to joining Arent Fox, Grace was an associate in the Labor and Employment and Litigation groups in the Los Angeles office of a multiservice international law firm. While there, Grace was second-chair trial counsel in the defense of a company and its president against charges of violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, in which the judge ultimately granted defendants’ Motion to Dismiss for Prosecutorial Misconduct and dismissed all charges and the underlying Indictments. Grace was also a member of the trial team defending an Internet service provider against claims of trademark, copyright, and trade dress infringement, cybersquatting, trademark dilution, and unfair competition for the use of certain Internet paid search marketing terms. During law school, Grace served as Managing Editor of the Southern California Law Review and was a Teaching Fellow for USC Law’s Legal Writing, Research, and Advocacy Program. Grace was also a judicial extern for the Honorable Dale S. Fischer, U.S. District Court, Central District of California and a Chinese language Law Clerk for the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles’ Asian and Pacific Islander Community Outreach Unit. Before attending law school, Grace served as a corps member for Teach for America, for which she spent two years teaching in inner-city Miami in an effort to close the achievement gap in the nation’s public schools.
