An article in The Washington Post discussing President Barack Obama’s decision to accept donations via text message quotes Arent Fox counsel Brett Kappel on the enormous impact this new allowance will have on campaign contributions going forward. Brett – who together with partner Craig Engle authored the text-for-donation proposal that was unanimously approved by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) – is quoted as calling text donations a “Big Bang” that will “expand the political universe exponentially” for campaigns at all levels.
