Brett has worked with a broad range of technologies, including image processing, robotics, electrical circuits, networking, consumer appliances, aeronautics, computer systems, and wireless communications. Brett resides in the firm’s Washington, DC office.
Prior to joining Arent Fox, Brett was an associate at two intellectual property boutiques in Washington D.C where he focused on the preparation and prosecution of patents. His experience also includes serving as a patent examiner at the USPTO, in Alexandria, Virginia. In this position, he examined technologies, including image processing, networking, communications, software, and controls.
Before that, Brett spent a number of years as an electrical engineer at Orbital Sciences Corporation in Chandler, Arizona. As an engineer, he played a key role in the design, integration, validation, and launch of rockets, including those under the Minotaur and Ground-based Midcourse Defense programs.
During law school, Brett worked as an intern at Hypertherm Inc. in Hanover, New Hampshire where he worked on electrical technologies related to the company’s high powered plasma cutters. He supported in-house counsel in prosecuting patents and managing licensing issues and pre-litigation matters
