Cornell has represented clients in all areas of intellectual property law and has extensive experience in patent preparation and prosecution in a broad range of technologies including telecommunications systems and devices, computer hardware and software, music reproduction, and video gaming systems and peripheral devices.
Cornell has advised clients on the maintenance, enforcement and defense of intellectual property rights including providing analysis of infringement allegations and developing cost-effective strategies for resolution, performing patentability, patent infringement and validity investigations and preparation of numerous opinions regarding same. He has also performed IP due diligence investigations related to corporate and intellectual property asset acquisitions. Further, Cornell has provided litigation support services, particularly with respect to claim interpretation, infringement and validity analysis, and has assisted with preparation of Markman briefs, summary judgment motions, and witness preparation.
Prior to joining Arent Fox, Cornell was counsel at an international law firm. He also has served as patent counsel for a premier video game publisher. Before pursuing his legal career, Cornell worked as a support engineer for SGI (formerly Silicon Graphics, Inc.) for eight years.
