The Automotive Industry Practice Group has been recognized by Chambers USA as a leader in the category Transportation: Road (Carriage/Commercial). John has more than 35 years of legal experience, and he represents national and local automotive groups in class actions and complex litigation in regulatory, commercial, and consumer matters. He also advises automotive, commercial trucking, and transportation clients in federal and state regulatory and compliance matters and in responses to government inquiries and investigations.

John’s extensive experience representing automotive dealership groups, trucking companies, and related entities enables him to provide strategic counsel, litigation representation, and pragmatic solutions on a wide variety of operational issues.

In addition, John has served as Judge Pro-Tem, arbitrator, and mediator for the Los Angeles Superior Court for more than 10 years.

Client Work

Prior to joining Arent Fox, John served most recently as a partner in the Los Angeles office of a national law firm, where he litigated matters involving commercial litigation, including class actions in the automotive industry, general negligence and product liability issues associated with commercial tractor-trailer operators and consumer litigation.

Professional Activities

John is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Southern California Defense Association, and the National Association of Dealer Counsel.

In 2011, the Automotive Industry Practice Group was selected as one of the Top 5 Practices in California by the Daily Journal.

John has given numerous compliance lectures to automotive groups involving proactive risk management issues.

Life Beyond the Law

John enjoys spending time with his wife of 35+ years and their grandchildren. The family spends time together road and mountain biking, skiing, and golfing.
