Client Work

John represents clients in matters before the International Trade Commission and the US Department of Commerce. He also has significant experience in handling matters before the Office of the US Trade Representative including matters related to Section 301. John has worked with Mexican companies for over 20 years and as extensive experience in matters involving imports from Mexico, including multiple  trade matters involving steel products.

He also advises companies importing goods into the United States in all areas of customs law, including: classification and valuation of products; country of origin requirements (for marking and preferential duty program purposes); bonded warehouses; foreign trade zones record-keeping; drawback; custom penalty actions and settlement thereof; alleged trademark infringement; Harbor Maintenance tax; customs criminal investigations; and the NAFTA/USMCA. John has assisted Mexican companies implementing customs compliance programs.

Professional Activities

John has been an adjunct professor in international trade at Georgetown University Law Center.
