Arent Fox Chosen One of '50 Best Places to Work in Greater Washington' by Business Journal

    May 24, 2005

WASHINGTON—May 24, 2005— Arent Fox has been named one of the “50 Best Places to Work in Greater Washington” by the Washington Business Journal. The award recognizes companies that cultivate positive work environments for employees through a combination of benefits, working conditions and company ethos.

The “50 Best Places to Work in Greater Washington” were selected from a pool of 230 area employers nominated for the honor based on an evaluation of employee benefits and perks. Employees were then asked to answer online questionnaires that addressed such factors as their pride in the company, company encouragement, support and recognition of achievement, and relationships with co-workers and supervisors. Other questions asked about favorite and least favorite things about the company. The results were analyzed and scored by assigning points to each question.

Employers were separated into four groups based on the size of their Greater Washington work force. Arent Fox was categorized in the large employer group—those with more than 500 employees.

The firm will be honored at a breakfast celebration and profiled in a special supplement to the Washington Business Journal on June 10.

"We consider collegiality to be one of our most important attributes,” said William R. Charyk, Washington managing attorney for Arent Fox. “In such a competitive business environment, we believe that lowering the pressure internally and fostering a culture of inclusion really improves overall performance.  Balancing work and with a rich personal life is what we encourage everyone at the firm to strive for. It also helps us attract, and keep, the best legal minds and administrative professionals.”

Arent Fox offers employees generous benefits as well as a wide variety of enrichment opportunities, internally and in the community. In-house mentoring and training programs emphasize professional development, and the firm’s long commitment to pro bono work and community engagement gives lawyers and staff members a chance to make contributions in the public interest.  Arent Fox has had long associations with Miriam’s Kitchen and Randle Highlands Elementary School and many other groups in the region.
