“Chapter 11 Reorganization of the Year”
LOS ANGELES –February 1, 2011–Arent Fox LLP has been named a Finalist for the 2011 Turnaround Awards by The M&A Advisor. Arent Fox’s work on behalf of The Walking Company in helping the national footwear retail chain successfully emerge from bankruptcy was selected as a finalist for recognition in the “Chapter 11 Reorganization of the Year” (Lower Middle Market) awards category.
Arent Fox’s successful restructuring of The Walking Company was previously recognized by The Daily Journal – California’s leading legal publication – as one of 2010’s “innovations.” In announcing the nominations for this year’s Turnaround Awards, Roger Aguinaldo, CEO of The M&A Advisor, said, “In 2010, although there were more than 1.1 million bankruptcies, there were also thousands of successful turnarounds, thanks to the energy and ingenuity of the world’s leading turnaround and distressed professionals. The deal teams represented in our Award Finalists have demonstrated the highest acumen in today’s turnaround and bankruptcy industry.”
The Walking Company’s successful reorganization was headed by Aram Ordubegian, Douglas Flahaut, Andy Kong, and Katie Lane. Joseph Rieser provided invaluable tax advice related to the restructuring, and the team was also supported by Arent Fox’s corporate practice group.
The winners will be announced Monday March 7, at an Awards Gala held in conjunction with the Distressed Investing Summit at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida. The premiere turnaround event will honor the accomplishments of the top distressed investing, restructuring and turnaround M&A professionals and firms, bringing together the leading dealmakers for an exclusive symposium.
