OFAC Removes Arent Fox Client from SDN Sanctions List

Los Angeles, CA — On April 17, the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) granted Arent Fox LLP’s petition to have Muller Conrad Rautenbach and his company, Ridgepoint Overseas Development Ltd., removed from the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons list.

As a result, Mr. Rautenbach and Ridgepoint can once again conduct business with US citizens and anyone subject to US jurisdiction. Arent Fox International Arbitration & Dispute Resolution partner Ambassador Pierre-Richard Prosper represented Mr. Rautenbach and Ridgepoint in the matter.

“We are pleased that OFAC recognized Mr. Rautenbach should not be included on their sanctions list,” said Amb. Prosper. “This has been a long administrative process. We are thankful that we were able to engage in a constructive exchange with OFAC and share information that allowed it to come to the correct conclusion in determining that our client does not meet the criteria for the SDN designation.”

Amb. Prosper’s practice focuses on international government relations and trade mediation, internal assessments, and investigations on behalf of government entities and companies. Before joining Arent Fox, Amb. Prosper was the US Ambassador-at-Large in charge of the Secretary of State’s Office of War Crimes Issues. Prior to that, he served as a war crimes prosecutor for the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda from 1996 to 1998, and he is a former state and federal prosecutor. Through his public service and legal career, he has been involved in developing policies to confront terrorism, and he prosecuted the first-ever case of genocide under the 1948 Genocide Convention.
