Life Sciences Counsel Brian Malkin will participate in a DC Bar Continuing Legal Education class by webinar about how the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) regulate opioid drugs on Wednesday, June 19.

Brian will join Patrick Raulerson at the FDA, Todd F. Prough at the US Drug Enforcement Agency, and Dr. John Dombrowski at The Washington Pain Center to discuss the legal issues involved in combating the US opioid crisis. Topics will include how the FDA approves opioid drugs, how the DEA schedules opioid drugs and prevents diversion, and how medical providers interact with regulators at both departments to address the crisis from both a pain management and addiction treatment perspective.
