Daily Journal Names Arent Fox Partner Marwa Hassoun to 2020 ‘Top Women Lawyers’
The Daily Journal’s feature on Marwa’s practice details her national security and international-trade work, highlighting recent matters spanning from sanctions laws related to cyber ransomware to humanitarian projects related to revitalizing olive farming and processing and rebuilding telecommunications networks in the Turkish-controlled Northern Syria.
Ms. Hassoun has a unique practice that is focused on assisting clients with compliance of civilian and military export controls, economic sanctions, and antiboycott regulations. She advises US and non-US companies, universities, and other entities on risk management, audits, and investigations involving alleged criminal and civil breaches of US trade control laws and government enforcement actions. She also assists clients with voluntary and directed disclosures, jurisdiction and classification determinations, obtaining export authorizations, and associated work related to various government agencies, including the Directorate of Defense Trade Control (DDTC), the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Census Bureau, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
“Marwa Hassoun’s solid leadership of Arent Fox’s International Trade practice on the west coast builds on the respect, trust, and confidence our partners and clients have in her, so it is no surprise to us that the Daily Journal recognized her among the top women lawyers in California,” said Aaron H. Jacoby, Los Angeles Managing Partner. “The scope of her practice demonstrates her capabilities to guide clients through complicated government agencies and in various international trade and national security matters across the country.”
The Daily Journal publishes their “Top Women Lawyers” list annually to recognize outstanding leadership in the legal profession in California.
